| 内容記述 | Seventy checkpoints are located on the borders between Israel and the occupied territories, where Israeli soldiers check all the Palestinians entering Israel. Based on a participant observation on one of the checkpoints with Nablus, we argue that verbal and non-verbal behavior among Israeli soldiers, Palestinians, and Israeli women's volunteer group, called Machsom Watch, symbolizes the asymmetrical relationship between Israel and Palestine. For this discussion, Israeli soldiers' linguistic behaviors such as their 'Arabic language', imperative forms, and jokes are analyzed, while Palestinian non-verbal behavior such as silence is interpreted as an act of resistance. | |||||||||
