In 2014, a workshop on psychological support in time of disaster was held at the 68th Tohoku Psychology
Conference in Akita City, almost 5 years after the outbreak of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Speakers were, a
clinical psychologist of welfare institution, a school counselor and a person in charge of refugee service of Akita
prefecture. The assessment of each client and affected area, individuality of psychological support, non-intrusive
support, utilization of usual psychological support skills and collaboration among multi-professionals and nonprofessionals
were considered important for assistance in time of great disaster. |
