When the film Spartacus was exhibited to the public in 1960, Dalton Trumbo, one of the most famous blacklisted individuals, broke the blacklist by showing his own name as its screenwriter on the screen. In this essay, we will discuss how “breaking the blacklist” happened and what the event meant to Hollywood movie industry and American society at that time.
