This study was aimed to investigate whether a baby\u0027s refusal to suckle is actually associated with mother.s mastitis-associated symptoms afterwards. We obtained questionnaires from 105 mothers of infants aged from 2 months to 3 years about their experience of their baby\u0027s refusal to suckle and mastitis-associated symptoms such as breast pain, swelling and redness. As results,63(60%) of mothers experienced their baby\u0027s refusal to suckle and 24(38%) of them underwent mastitis-associated symptoms afterwards. Refusal to suckle was more common among mothers who breast-fed (p\u003c0.01). Among mothers who breast-fed, experience of mastitis-associated symptoms was more common in mothers with experience of refusal to suckle (p\u003c0.01).
