| 内容記述 | With changes in social structure and the development of media and transportation networks, traditional local dialects are quickly disappearing. However, according to data collected by the author over the past decade on the younger generation of Akita dialect speakers, there are certain words or phrases in the dialect that are either "used" or "not used but comprehensible," suggesting that even within the same dialect there are elements that are quickly disappearing and those that will not disappear in the immediate future. The timing of the decline may be different for different words, and there may be significant individual differences even among the same words used by the same generation, suggesting that even if all of those words are deemed to be in decline, the reality is that there is a wide variety of dialect use among individuals. This paper examines the generational dynamics of surviving and declining Akita dialects, their typology, and the background and circumstances behind each, based on a survey of vocabulary used by three generations of Akita dialect speakers: elderly, middle, and young. In conjunction with the survey, we will ask speakers about their impressions of and sense of value in relation to the Akita dialect, and make predictions about its future. | |||||||||
