Seventeen ward nurses were asked to report anonymously on the following five areas: 1. Whether they had been involved in student supervision. 2. Difficulties experienced at the time of the action plan announcement. 3. Difficulties experienced in carrying out procedures or patient care with the student. 4. Patient's dissatisfaction with or complaints regarding the student. 5. Thoughts on reading the student's training record. The results were as follows: (1) All of the ward nurses surveyed had been involved in student supervision. (2) From their reports, ward nurses' expectations of students can be broken down into the four categories: Nursing assistance; Thinking and recording; Attitude; Understanding of objective.
