A questionnaire survey was conducted into students' attitudes towards handicapped people before and after their practical study, as well as their expectations and learning throughout the period of study. Most students held negative impressions of handicapped people before the practice. However, these impressions increased to become positive following contact with handicapped people through observation or practice of assistance. Few students recorded their expectations for the practical study, but communication and contact methods, methods of assistance and the actual situation of handicapped people were mentioned, indicating that the students had learned through their engagement with the handicapped people.
