The Akita Prefecture Teacher Career Index is unique in that it provides a bird's eye view of one's entire teaching career, making it easy to visualize career advancement. However, many of the items in the index are abstract, and the experience and competence of the teaching staff are required to understand the content accurately. Based on these characteristics and issues, this research examined how to effectively use the index in in-school training. As a result, it was found that discussing the contents of the index in in-school training and concretizing them as goals and directions for practice can deepen understanding.
