The course was offered at Akita University on December 15th, 2004. The purpose of the course was to help participants understand basics of natural science by introducing them to part of the course offered at university. The course covered the mechanism of volcanic eruption as a major topic, which was demonstrated by lecture, experiment, display of a specimen, and audio-visual material. To illustrate the eruption process, a hands-on eruption experiment was demonstrated using chocolate paste at the kitchen.
