The participants in the course were all those who would be involved in teaching information literacy courses in the future. The purpose of the course was to help those students acquire various skills that will be required. It was assumed that teachers of such courses are expected to possess three types of expertise, including the skill of putting a variety of information to practical use, knowledge about the teaching method of information literacy, and an ability to put such knowledge to actual teaching. Summative self-assessment by the participants showed that approximately 90 percent of the students reported having improved their performance in the first category (i.e., knowledge about information education), approximately 80 percent reported improvement in the second category (i.e., practical use of information), and about 70 percent felt to have improved in the third category (i.e., the skill of teaching information literacy). It was also found that the students ranked relatively high those courses in which computers were used, yet the results did not support universal acceptance of such courses.
