We conducted a questionnaire survey on hearing impaired children with multiple disabilities enrolled in special support schools in Akita Prefecture. Of the 1267 children enrolled in special support schools, 20(1.7%)were found to have hearing impairment and multiple disabilities. 6 hearing impaired children with multiple disabilities were enrolled in schools for the deaf, while a total of 14 such children were enrolled in other special support schools. These results indicate that there are more than twice as many hearing impaired children with multiple disabilities at other special support schools than at schools for the deaf. Next, we planned a workshop for teachers working with hearing impaired children with multiple disabilities as a way to enhance support for these children. In the workshop, we used videos showing hearing impaired people with multiple disabilities in their places of employment after graduation.
