内容記述 | Learning to write logical and refined English, preeminently the most international of languages, is an essential element of higher education as well as communication. This paper attempts to integrate functional and rhetorical perspectives into "writing" teaching programs and materials. These perspectives, elucidating the relationships between possible sentences and the choices between semantically equivalent sentences, give us explicit insights on the practical principles of logicality, clarity and conciseness in writing matured English. Acquisition and application of these principles through the study of language as an intellectual exercise contribute not only to the systematic improvement of our writing but also to our students' appropriate preparation for academic course of study, especially in their writing of a research paper integrating and documenting information from secondary sources. | |||||||||
