秋田県雄物川流域の中学1 年生を対象に，流水の働きの知識を活かし，モデル実験装置を用いて，洪水を防ぐことについて考えさせる学習を行った．モデル実験で生徒が考えた対策は，水防のための護岸堤防設置と，流路変更のための堰の設置に分かれた．前者のグループでは議論が多様で，流水の働きの知識を活かし，水防に成功した．一方，後者のグループは議論が単調で，知識を活かさず，水防に成功しない場合があった．
The authors conducted science classes for first graders of a junior high school to study flood disaster measures of the Omonogawa River by utilizing the model experiment apparatus. One of the measures that some students designed was to build a levee along the undercut slope of a meandering river. While discussing the measures, those students would have to think of river processes. |
