Music is also a versatile subject that can easily be combined with other subjects. To obtain optimum benefits of music education, it is essential to improve teachers’ practical teaching skills and methods. The author investigated teacher-training students’ perceptions of singing learning/teaching methods, and considered which abilities are required to teach singing. As a result, for teacher-training students to be able to conduct practical singing lessons as teachers, it is necessary to improve their abilities and awareness in the following three areas: (1) ability to observe and make judgments in music lessons, (2) mental support for learners in practical musical skills training, and (3) versatile teaching ability to be able to conduct music lessons in combination with other subjects.
