We conducted a study in order to create a database on the nursing\nequipment that is used in the clinical setting, which is suitable for teaching the principles of basic nursing.\nA questionnaire survey targeting nursing professionals involved in the selection of nursing equipment in\ngeneral hospitals with 200 beds or more and visiting nursing stations was conducted throughout the\ncountry. The subjects included 198 nursing professionals from hospitals (effective response rate : 31.8％)\nand 105 nursing professionals from visiting stations (effective response rate : 29.3％). An analysis of the\ntrends in the usage of nursing equipment among the 96 items extracted from previous studies and\ntextbooks revealed that the usage rate of nursing equipment containing glass, rubber and mercury was\nlow.
