| 内容記述 | In Japan, universities dedicated to training teachers of the Japanese language have been urged lately to review effective teaching and learning activities utilizing materials related to the Chinese classics as a way of tackling problems in contemporary Japanese society. The present author focused on one such group of materials, namely, textbooks of morals for women. This study took up the most representative work in this genre, Biographies of Exemplary Women, in order to explain its philosophy of women and discuss how it was accepted in Japan and how influential it was in China in later generations. A questionnaire survey clarified that most students understood and addressed with enthusiasm the topic of traditional Chinese philosophy of women as well as the Chinese society and culture that were its background. Some of them realized that this traditional philosophy of women survives in contemporary Japanese society and leads to contemporary problems. |
