Therefore it is considered to be useful for improvement of the essential fatty acid\nbalance. However, previous studies showed that rapeseed oil shortened the survival of SHRSP rats compared with soybean\noil. These results indicate the possibility that rapeseed oil contains minor harmful compounds. In this study, we evaluated\nthe safety of rapeseed oil made in China and Japan. Using several cell lines, we did not detect the marked toxicity of these\nrapeseed oil as compared with soybean oil. We also measured some indexes for the quality of edible oil such as fatty acid\ncomposition, polyphenol content, antioxidant activity, acid value (AV), peroxide value (POV), viscosity and color tone.
