内容記述 The present investigation was undertaken in order to see a characteristic of the ground vibration in Hachinogata, Akita Prefecture, as an example. After a determination of underground structure (shallow layer) by means of seismic prospecting, the micro-tremor was measured on the ground surface. Comparing the undergound structure with freguency-period curve of micro-tremor on the ground surface, it is found that the freguency-period curve has a single peek (a predominant period for two stratified layers) and it is flat for a thick layer of the soft ground. A short predominant period is affceted by the upper most layer of the ground. In order to see a characteristic of earthquake proof the micro-tremor was measured on the bank which was damaged by the Akita-oki Earthguake of March 7, 1964. And the frequency-period curve of micro-tremor on the bank was compared with that on the ground surface. According to this result, it was found that, the predominant period (about 0.3 sec) of micro-tremor on the ground surface at A_3 point coincided with that on the bank, while at A_4 point the predominant period (0 1 sec) on the ground surface did not coincide with that (about 0.3 sec) on the bank. Considering that the bank (A_3) suffered most from the earthquke and the bank (A_4) did not, it may be clear that the seismic damage of bank is closely related with the characteristic of its vibration. The fact shows that the bank has the same relation as that found about the ground. The frequency-period curve of micro-tremor on the bank (D) is coincident with that on the ground surface and is flat. This bank did not suffer the seismic damage. From these facts, it is found that the bank having such a flat freguency-period curve of micro-themor seems to be Proof against the seismic force.
