Five-year-old preschoolers, fifth graders, and university students(N=90)were instructed to explain a cartoon animation verbally. Their explanation was digital video-recorded and analyzed. The results showed that the frequency of hand gestures changed tracing a U-shaped pattern as reported Fujii(1999)on unknown listener condition and on known listener condition too, but on which condition, the U-shaped pattern was not shown statistically.
