| 内容記述 | Despite being important sources of support for students, family members and instructors often lack sufficient knowledge about menstruation. This study aimed to conduct a questionnaire survey targeting sports instructors to gain insights into the healthcare environment for female students. The survey was administered to the sports instructors of junior and senior high schools in Akita City, Japan. Collected data included sex, age, teaching history, awareness of menstrual problems, frequency of counseling, self-assessment of confidence in handling menstrual counseling, and the teaching environment. Out of 30 responses obtained from five facilities, over 80% of participants (18 males and 12 females) recognized the importance of addressing menstrual problems. However, about half of them reported rare experience in providing menstrual counseling, with most male faculty members lacking confidence in offering guidance. No clear correlation between teaching experience and confidence levels was observed. It is perceived that around 70% of female students may face challenges in effectively communicating their menstrual issues. This study addresses the impact of menstrual-related issues on the performance of female athletes, underscoring the need for gynecological care. It also highlights the potential influence of instructors’ gender on menstrual education, which contributes to communication difficulties for students. |
