Emotional Intelligence (EI) argues that measuring aptitude by IQ only ignores behavior, character and social skills which are even more important for success after university. Thus, IQ may get your foot in the door, but it’s the EI that keeps you in the room.\n This paper is meant to add to the literature with research on the emotional intelligence survey results of two hundred and forty-six EFL respondents from Akita Prefectural University and Kochi University of Technology. The research highlights the aspects of EI that were most espoused by students at both university’s EFL departments and using principles from (Cherniss & Goleman, 2001). The paper will illustrate why understanding EI is about understanding behavior patterns as well as how it is possibly connected to espoused culture traits (Li & Zhang, 2024). To conclude, the research will explain why understanding and respecting the EI of students is important for success in university classes and future occupations.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_30002_file35":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2025-05-27"}],"filename":"ake66(58).pdf","filesize":[{"value":"397 KB"}],"format":"application/pdf","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"url":"https://air.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/2001527/files/ake66(58).pdf"},"version_id":"03d72299-3af0-48d9-8bf7-96ebe0dd1e94"}]},"item_30002_language12":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_30002_publisher10":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"Akita Association of English Studies","subitem_publisher_language":"en"}]},"item_30002_resource_type13":{"attribute_name":"item_30002_resource_type13","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_30002_source_identifier22":{"attribute_name":"収録物識別子","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"2759-5234","subitem_source_identifier_type":"EISSN"}]},"item_30002_subject8":{"attribute_name":"主題","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"ESL/EFL","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Emotional Intelligence (EI)","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Goleman Theory of Performance","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Future careers","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_30002_title0":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Toward Understanding the Emotional Intelligence (EI) of Japanese EFL Learners and Why It’s Important","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_30002_version_type15":{"attribute_name":"出版タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_title":"Toward Understanding the Emotional Intelligence (EI) of Japanese EFL Learners and Why It’s Important","item_type_id":"30002","owner":"56","path":["1748219458661"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2025-05-27"},"publish_date":"2025-05-27","publish_status":"0","recid":"2001527","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Toward Understanding the Emotional Intelligence (EI) of Japanese EFL Learners and Why It’s Important"],"weko_creator_id":"56","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2025-05-27T05:00:48.764986+00:00"}
