| 内容記述 | Objective : To clarify the current status of awareness and preventive measures against occupational exposure to anticancer drugs among Japanese home healthcare nurses. Methods : A questionnaire survey was administered to home healthcare nurses throughout Japan. After reviewing descriptive statistics, relationships among variables were examined using the χ2 test, and open-ended data were categorized. Results : A total of 204 home healthcare nurses were included in this study (valid response rate : 20%). Among the nurses, 55% were aware of exposure risks, 57% were aware of preventive measures against exposure, 28% worked in facilities with preventive measures, 60% had visited patients undergoing cancer chemotherapy, 30% had taken preventive measures, and 32% had explained preventive measures to patients. The implementation of preventive measures against exposure was associated with awareness of exposure effects, and the most common reason for not taking preventive measures or explaining them to patients was a lack of knowledge. A major challenge was that nurses had few opportunities to learn about preventive measures. Conclusions : The present findings suggest that home healthcare nurses have inadequate awareness of and take inadequate preventive measures against exposure to anticancer drugs. There is a lack of specific information, and establishing and disseminating a manual on preventive measures are necessary. |
