We introduced e-learning for the purpose of supporting self-learning by students learning nursing skills. We investigated nursing students who had been using e-learning for one year, to clarify how it was used and to investigate future issues. The results were as follows: Eighty percent of students replied that they used e-learning at home. More than 70% of students found it easy to use e-learning content. All of the students were using e-learning to prepare for nursing skills practice. Furthermore, 90% of the students replied that e-learning aided self-learning. These results suggested that e-learning was a useful tool to support self-learning of nursing skills. Careful selection and the improvement of teaching materials will be necessary in future so that e-learning is used more for self-learning. Reasons why it was hard to use were the limitations of short tests and video replay depending on the browser used at home.
