Grandparents of grandchildren with developmental disabilities can support their children and grandchildren in many ways. But it is very difficult for grandparents to understand the nature of developmental disabilities, Support centers for persons with developmental disabilities can take an active role in providing supports for grandparents to be good supporters for their children and grandchildren. This exploratory study aimed to reveal the present state of grandparents support in support centers for persons with developmental disabilities. A survey of questionnaire was conducted. I asked staffs of support centers to answer related questions. The results indicated that many of support centers had consultations with grandparents about their grandchildren. Many of support centers had the opinion that they should improve their professional competence to support grandparents. Many of support centers had consultations with grandparents who were assuming the role of caregivers for grandchildren with developmental disabilities. The findings present challenges to support centers to be more attentive to the significance of support for grandparents.
