We called the time “Gang age” and this experience is important in subsequent life. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether Social Skills Training (SST) with children of this age changes their behavior at the next educational level, in junior high school.\nSubjects were 112 third-grade students from 2 elementary schools in O city, A prefecture. The subjects participated in six SST sessions in the spring of 2003. Three years later, the same subjects, as well as a control group of 181 students in the same grade at the same junior high school, were given a survey to assess social skills.\nWhen the SST treatment group was compared with the control group, the treatment group showed positive results in “desire to learn” (p=0.037). Although there was no significant difference in the variables “personal connection” (p=0.057) and “fundamental social skills” (p=0.069), the treatment group had generally positive results. Overall, partial effect of SST was shown.
