We consider how ‘Patient Rounds’ (PR) contribute to an increase in patients’ satisfaction, nurses’ job satisfaction, and risk management. We aim to consider the efficacy of PR by investigating how PR is performed and how floor nurses respond to it. We collected data from head nurses and floor nurses of 181 hospitals nationwide.\nThe results show more than 90% of hospitals perform PR and 23% of head nurses answer that their hospitals have guidelines for PR. Half of head nurses carry out PR 1 or 2 times a day, and it takes less than 1 hour. This survey contains a 20-item checklist for PR, and the difference between hospitals with guidelines and those without them is statistically significant. More than 90% of nurses report that PR works for increasing patients’ satisfaction and decreasing risks.
