All teachers are facing the\nnew task of providing support to children with\nmild developmental disorders without mental\nretardation who are attending normal class. In\nthis study, we conducted a questionnaire survey\non elementary and junior high school teachers\nregarding support to children with mild developmental\ndisorders, and studied the current\nstuation and tasks. As a result of factor analysis,\nthe following six factors were extracted; 1)\nsupport system in school, 2) interest in mild\ndevelopmental disorders, need for training, 3)\ntreatment ability for children with mild developmental\ndisorders, 4) class management for\nmutual developmental, 5) difficulties in partnerships\nwith parents, 6) importance of special\nteaching. These six factors were then compared\nand studied between different types of schools\n(elementary or junior high school) and different\njob types (administration and management or\n94\nclass teacher), and the following results were\nobtained. It was found that those handling\nadministrative and management work have\nproper support systems compared to class\nteachers, and they are aware of the need for\ntraining, have high treatment skills, and consider\nclass management to be more important than\nspecial teaching. In addition, compared to junior\nhigh school teachers, elementary school teachers\nhad stronger attitude and interest in mild\ndevelopmental disorders. Importance on special\nteaching was placed by class teachers than those\nhandling administrative and management work,\nand in junior high schools than elementary\nschools. Regarding difficulties in partnerships\nwith parents, no difference was seen between the\ntwo types of jobs and types of schools.
