The decrease of junior\nhigh school graduates is leading to the cut of admittance capacity of public senior high schools. Therefore\nthe prefectural board of education decided the fifth plan which included various reform plans of\npublic senior high schools for next ten years. The plan proposed to make new-type conprehensive\nschools by integration of minimum size schools, conversion of women's schools to co-ed ones and\nestabilishment of six-year secondary schools. In Akita prefecture, there are large regional differeces on\nadmittance capacity of senior high schools.
