The\ncandidate molecules for synaptic plasticity is now being elucidated in the field of neuroscience. Recent\nstudies reveal that proteases and their inhibitors in the nervous system play a role in neuronal processes\nrelated to synaptic plasticity, maintenances of extracellular environment and neuronal damages (including\nischemia and familial dementia). This paper focuses on typical and well-studied proteases and protease\ninhibitors.
