This data was compared with that obtained from fourteen gastric cancer patients\nunder the age of 65 (control group). Among twelve patients in the aged group, underlying disorders were\nconfinned in 75%, and two were not operated on, because their ADL was highly or moderately deteriorated.\nTen cases in the aged group underwent elective surgery. None experienced severe complications, and all could\nbe discharged from hospital with an \"independent\" ADL status. However, of the postoperative minor\ncomplications, seven out of ten aged patients suffered from symptoms including surgical site infection (in\nfive), fever of unknown origin (in one), postoperative delirium (in one), and neurogenic bladder (in one). On\nthe other hand, in the control group, eleven out of fourteen experienced no complications at all.
