But little formal attention has been paid to a significant component of\nthe extended family:grandparents.\nThis study investigated the mothers'views on paternal grandmothers. Mothers of children with\nhandicaps and mothers of normal children responded to a questionnaire.\nThe results suggested that mothers of children with handicaps had more negative views on their\nrelationships with grandmothers and grandmothers'relationships with children than did mothers of\nnormal children.
