As there live\nrelatively more aged people in the districts among the mountains. to study the lives of the aged there,\nespecially of those who live alone, will be significant for the further study of the welfare problems in\nJapanese society.\nThe research has resulted in the recognition that the alone-living-aged in Jumonji town have\nformed a close network among their families, relatives and friends. On the other hand they make little\nuse of welfare services, of which they have few expectations. They are not willing to participate in a\nsocial activity. Lack of willingness of taking part in the society is observed among them.
