 note = {The author conducted an investigation of how international students and Japanese
students were interacting at higher educational institutions in the Akita area. The purpose was to see what the causes if any of cultural or social conflicts among them were. The results show that while international students are trying hard to make friends with their counterparts and the Japanese consider it necessary to make efforts themselves, the Japanese side are not succeeding in doing it. One of the causes of these communication gaps seems to stem from the different senses of values between the two sides.},
